Hello from the Maxwells!

Well gosh, what do you want to know? We are both in our, um, early 50’s and we learned to sail in 2012 after dating for a little over a year. The whole thing was my husband’s hair-brained idea, I was solidly against it. More about that can be found here and here.

We live in land-locked Denver, we do Bikram yoga three or four times a week, we are trying a predominately plant-based diet for health, we take an awkward number of bad selfies, and sailing is “our thing”. We sail as much as our budgets and vacation schedules allow, and for now, that isn’t as much as we’d like. We both currently work full time, me as a database marketing specialist and my husband as a firefighter.

I’ll add (in a new paragraph for emphasis) that my passion is writing. I have a degree in magazine journalism from the University of Georgia from way-back-when, and one of these days I’m going figure out how to do it on a more permanent basis. For now, though, this website is my writing platform that I hope (I really hope) is helpful to someone out there who might want to visit a destination we’ve been to or learn a bit from our experiences.

Our entire mission is to support charter sailors – especially new sailors – in their efforts to learn the ropes (literally) and to explore the many beautiful destinations around the world that can only be reached by boat.  Whether you earn the certification required to sail and charter your own boats, you hire a captain, or you simply charter by the cabin, we strongly encourage you to explore the excitement and tranquility of being on the water in a sailboat.

There is nothing like it. Give it a try!
